During the implementation of this project, we organized four interactive workshops with specific topics for fourth grade students. During these workshops, students gained skills in home gardening, insect hotel construction and basic recycling knowledge. During the workshops and the planting process, the children expressed great satisfaction from the practical interactive lessons. The children also had the opportunity to practice the English language because guests from Italy, Austria and Belgium also participated in the project. The positive impact of these activities is also noticeable among the teaching staff, especially due to the lack of opportunities for similar teaching methods within the formal education system. They point out that non-formal education projects like this have a significant contribution for children, especially in the age of modern electronic devices and the Internet. Another convincing indicator of the need for such children’s projects lies in the fact that we received many calls from school leaders, teaching staff and parents who express interest in organizing similar workshops for their children.
